I got these because I am a pen and pencil freak and I love fun colors. These work nicely in my mixed media journal, they don't smear if you let them air dry a bit but I do use a workable fixative over them in order to add more acrylic layers. Not something you *have* to have in your mixed media arsenal but they are a fun alternative mostly matte finish to the shiny wax of Crayola type crayons.
