Sashiko 102 :: Hitomezashi & Kuguri-sashi

Sashiko is a Japanese style of hand embroidery that uses simple stitches to create beautiful intricate designs.

In this TWO PART (4 hours total) live Zoom class you will learn two different kinds of Sashiko embroidery - Hitomezashi (One-Stitch) and Kuguri-sashi (Stitch & Weave). We will review the traditional Sashiko no-knot start method and Sashiko stitching basics before moving into Hitomezashi designs in the first two hours of the class. You will have a break before moving onto Kuguri-sashi in the last two hours of the class.

A complete kit to make 4 coasters (pre-printed sampler, thread and needles) is included with your workshop fee and will be mailed to you prior to the start of the workshop.

Level : Previous Sashiko experience is helpful, but not necessary.

Location: Via Zoom (Zoom Links will be emailed the week before the class date)

Once again....another excellent class. Claudia walked us thru Hitomezashi and Kugurisashi . She provided excellent instruction thru out the class. Questions were welcomed and different techniques were provided.

Sashiko 102 Class

This was my first Sashiko class, and I am so glad that I took it. It was an enjoyable class and I learned so much! Claudia answered all of the questions I had and explained all of the concepts clearly. The stitching project was the perfect size for the class time. Thank you for such a great class, Claudia!

Sashiko 102 Class via Zoom

Excellent class! I must admit I am as craft class junkie. I have attended many workshops and own way too many Craftsy classes, This class ranks as one of my favorites! I viewed YouTube video after YouTube video on sashiko, but continued to have unanswered questions. Claudia answered all of them in her presentation and inspired me to ask new questions, which she then answered. Claudia provided a well passed class filled with information. I will definitely take additional classes from her.

Sashiko 102 class

I thoroughly enjoyed this class and learned a lot! Claudia is a wonderful teacher—explained different sashiko methods, how to design your own patterns, answered our questions very patiently. Loved loved loved this class! Thanks Claudia!

All the Stars!

LOVED this class! I took it a couple weeks after Sashiko 101, because I knew I wanted to learn as much as possible, and have a human being explain the correct order of lines to sew on a sampler, etc (radically! easier! than staring at charts as a first-time Sashiko sewer!). Claudia is a warm, patient, kind instructor, and goes over anything again upon request, takes ample breaks for questions, allows sewers to speak at any time, and in general is just a wealth of Sashiko knowledge. I particularly love the book previews Claudia does during the class. The samplers and thread pairings are also gorgeous. 10/10 recommend this class to you—can’t remember the last time I was so deeply fascinated by a new craft. Sashiko is such a pleasure. Take every class with Claudia you can!!
