Measuring just a bit bigger than a US Quarter, these mini thread snips prove that exceptional things can come in small packages. Made by Hasegawa Cutlery in Seki, Japan's foremost cutlery-making town, the mini scissors are as functional as they are adorable. The silk tassel attached to the finger pad is handmade by Imasato, a tassel and knot specialist founded in 1907 in Fukuoka Prefecture. The snips also include a buttery soft genuine leather sheath for storage.

To use, press the finger pads together with your thumb and forefinger. The spring mechanism keeps the scissor blades open when not in use.

Every component is special

Scissors from Cohana work wonderfully, and they are exceptionally special. I've had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the company, and he was able to tell me that each component of the scissors (the metal for the blades, the rubber for the scissors, the leather for the sheath, the thread for the tassel) are all sourced from specific areas in Japan that are specifically known for that trade. Sharp knives and metal work? Those were sourced from the Gifu prefecture. Each component is intentional and locally sourced from within Japan, and that certainly makes these scissors incredibly special (either for yourself or as a gift for another.)

Work Great for Travel

I had my other mini scissors taken from my travel needlepoint kit (looking at you, India, and nowhere else!). I am delighted to find these adorable and practical scissors for air travel. They are a bit fumbly, being so small, but they are sharp and get the job done on the fly. Think doll-house small for this tiny option.

Completely FUN!

My order started as fun ... and practicality was in there, too. BUT, when these tiny adorable snips showed up in my mailbox, I found that the fun was only beginning! They work beautifully, take up absolutely no room at all in my bag and can go wherever I do. They are, in a word, AMAZING!

Perfect and adorable

These are the perfect little snips for on-the-go sewing or for having next to your hand sewing chair. I love them so much that I'm now up to 3 of them so that I always have some handy. Sharp, easy to use, and they always inspire a few " OMG, those are so CUTE!" from people who see them.
