Sashiko is a Japanese style of hand embroidery that uses simple stitches to create beautiful intricate designs. Hitomezashi is one of the three main styles of Sashiko that uses longer, connected stitches on a grid to create dense and intricate patterns. A favorite for visible mending and boro-inspired projects! In Sashiko 102 we will learn the basics of Hitomezashi style stitching and then delve in to how to move beyond pre-printed samplers to use these designs in a wide variety of projects.

Workshop Only vs. Workshop + Kit: You have the option to register for the Workshop Only & provide your own materials, or you can purchase a complete class kit with all the materials that will be used throughout the class.

Great learning Experience

Enjoyed this class with Claudia. She is a wonderful teacher, covers all the necessary skills and supplies in a calm voice. I watched the class on YouTube and was concerned I would not be able to ask questions. The subject was so well covered, I had none. Looking forward to her other classes.

Sashiko class 102

I loved my Sashiko class with Claudia. She is a patient and informative teacher. I have been working on some sashiko projects on my own and kept wondering if I was doing things right. I am so glad I took this class. Claudia’s information and demonstrations helped me to improve my process. I am taking 101 next week and plan to sign up for 103.

Another fabulous session with Claudia

I am very captivated with all things sashiko and loved my second class with Claudia. I recently returned from a trip to Japan where I took a guided tour with Kazue Yoshikawa of Sashiko Lab, who Claudia recommended. It was very interesting and informative but I found that I had already learned a lot from my classes with Claudia and trips to her shop. It has everything you could possibly need. I look forward to the next session!
