From Lecien COSMO comes the Hidamari Sashiko thread collection. These luxury Sashiko threads come wound on a cone for ease of use - simply cut your desired length and start stitching. Sashiko thread is a single strand cotton thread approximately the same thickness as size 8 perle cotton. It can be used in Sashiko stitching, boro mending, embroidery, crochet and more.PRODUCT DETAILS:
I have found that this sashiko thread is one of my favorites to work with. I love the slight sheen it has, it pulls smoothly through my fabrics and the spool makes it so easy to cut the length I need and store cleanly. The subtle variation in the speckles of this particular color make it look grey from a distance but speckles become more noticeable as you get closer. Fabulous for stitching!
I purchased this with absolutely no purpose in mind, just because I immediately fell in love with the color. I ended up using it to add big stitch binding to a quilted play mat for my son when the denim back was too thick for traditional hand stitching on the binding. This thread is lovely in every way, from it's soft texture to beautiful color, to ease of stitching! It was absolutely perfect for this task, and I can't wait to find more projects to use it on!
This thread is so beautiful! I do a lot of hand quilting and hand piecing, and my usual choice in pearl size 8. I still like that best for strength because it's mercerized, BUT, for a thread this beautiful, I feel fully satisfied. (It's much better for my work than embroidery floss, which creates many frustrations in my work...) This particular color-way is so subtle and rich! Very different to the eye than a flat gray. I'm using it to quilt a white scrap quilt right now, which I'm doing with ombre threads (dark gray at the bottom up to bright white at the top), and it's playing beautifully mixed with my pearl 8's. The quilt was pieced partly with the COSMO Hidamari Sashiko Thread confetti in the red, white, and blue colors, and it worked well for piecing as well as quilting with this color. ***I may be a somewhat unusual quilter in that I often like to quilt with my wingspan, about 5.5' of thread at a time. I can get away with that using a French brand of pearl, but not with other brands. THIS THREAD stayed strong and worked well for the full 5 feet!!!! 💘💘💘
this cookies cream color is perfect for subtle mending and stitching since the speckles have a blurring effect. I love how smooth the sewing is with this thread. The cute cone is a bonus!
