Snuggly Monkey went to Spring Quilt Market! For those of you that don't know, Quilt Market is an international trade show for the fiber arts industry. The Spring 2018 market took place in Portland, Oregon from May 17-20. This was my first time attending, and it was a fantastic experience.
As the name indicates, Quilt Market is geared mostly towards quilt and fabric shops, but I went in the hopes of finding some new suppliers for Snuggly Monkey and to learn more about current trends. Mission accomplished! I made connections with some great new vendors and had the opportunity to meet many of the distributors I have worked with over email for years. All in all, it was a good and productive trip. There is so much to see at Quilt Market (it can feel a little overwhelming at times!) But, here are a few of my favorite finds...
The Sashiko displays made my heart sing! I was able to find some beautiful new threads and samplers, so keep an eye out for those coming soon to the shop. One of the samplers I am most excited about incorporates weaving into stitched sashiko panels - fun stuff!
Embroidery thread and patterns galore! I loved seeing the new Cosmo 3-strand embroidery floss spools (which will be great for punchneedle!) Also, keep an eye out for some beautiful new hand-dyed threads from South Africa!
Project inspiration was everywhere! From bags to pillows to clothing, there were so many amazing projects on display in just about every booth. I left market with so many ideas for new projects and techniques to try out. It is going to be a fun summer of creating!
And, of course, there were quilts and lots of fabric there too :) My phone is full of quilt pictures because I wanted to take them all home with me. This collage is just a few of my favorites.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I am so glad I had the opportunity to attend. I am super excited to share my Quilt Market finds with you all in the weeks to come. Here is a sneak peak of a few of the goodies coming to the shop very soon from Quilt Market...
