- figure out how big stitch dimensions are in inches or centimeters on different count fabrics (for example a 98 stitch wide design on 14 ct Aida measures 7 inches, but on 18 count Aida it will measure 5.5 inches)
- find your starting point off center if you wish to begin your next project on an edge rather than in the center

I have not done cross stitch in awhile. This is a helpful tool to allow me to start patterns correctly.

Cross stitch gauge

I was so happy to find this! I have not been able to find the one I used to have from one long ago, but that's okay because I know it is not as nice as this one! I love that it has the variety of thread counts. Great buy!

This is so helpful. I have various pieces of cloth, cut from the main bolt I'd bought umpteen years ago, with no designation on them. I'm so glad I don't have to try counting the holes with a regular ruler anymore.
