Hard to find!

Sashiko basting thread is carried by very few retailers. I was watching a YouTube tutorial and the person said she didn’t know any U.S. suppliers who carried it. Well, our Snuggly Monkey carries it - and in four colors!

Wish I Would Have Ordered Sooner

I've looked at this before but didn't order it. Just finished up a project and wished I had it then. Great texture, thin, easy to break, identifiable color (I ordered the blue) and a lot of meters. And now I won't feel like I'm wasting sashiko thread. Basting is much nicer than using a bunch of pins.

Fabulous Tool

Basting thread is easy to break and pull out when you’ve finished those final stitches, or if you decide to adjust things and try again. I use it when I know I will need to move a project around (either embroidery w/ a small hoop or sashiko) in order to make sure my layers of fabric stay aligned — thus, less puckers. I also use it when sewing together toiles or doing test fits for garment sewing. With three colors in my sewing kit, there is always something high contrast from the rest of the project.

It is definitely thin thread. I struggled w/ treating it like sashiko thread (braiding cut ends). So, I’m now winding it on to bobbins to take with me in my sewing kit.

Ready, set, stitch!
