Kogin is a style of Japanese hand embroidery that is reminiscent of counted cross stitch. Intricate designs are created by stitching straight stitches on evenweave fabric using a gridded pattern as your guide. This meditative form of stitching is great for beginner and advanced stitchers alike.
:: Kogin Sashiko Coaster Kit - Navy & Beige (#75)
:: Kit includes 2 pieces of stitching fabric, 1 large piece of backing fabric, kogin thread and kogin needles. Pattern written in Japanese is also included, but contains many easy to follow illustrations.
:: Kit contains enough materials to create 2 coasters in two different colors (Black & Flax)
:: Made in Japan
I tried this kit to see what kind of fabric is normally used for kogin (or at least from this manufacturer's perspective.) It came with all the different colors of thread, the stitching fabric, and the backing. It's really nice that Snuggly Monkey brings in things from all over the world for us to try.
This kit is lovely. It is beautifully packaged with not a millimeter of wasted space. All of the materials are high quality and the pattern is easy to follow. A fun project to make for beginner or experienced stitcher alike.
