Popular from the 17th to the 19th centuries, tie-on waist pockets were an essential accessory to a woman’s wardrobe. Making a pocket was a skill learned at an early age, part of the progression from girlhood to adulthood. A very portable project, it could be easily picked up at odd or stolen moments, alone or with others.

This tie-on pocket is a perfect addition to a modern day wardrobe. It may no longer contain a nutmeg grater or lock of hair, but it is the ideal spot for a smart phone. It is a simple hand-stitched project to steal away a bit of treasured time.

This is a HAND SEWING project, though you may wish to machine stitch the outer seam.

The pattern comes in both US and A4 measurements for your home printer. There is one pattern piece to make the pocket.

Disappointed

I ordered the pattern because it showed 2 different pocket patterns. Disappointed because it only had one, not the one I liked best.

I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with the pattern and for the confusion with the photos. Karen designed the pattern so that each person could make a personalized pocket and the photos were intended to show some of the possibilities. The pattern is intended to provide instructions on how to construct the pocket form with ideas for different ways to embellish the exterior of the pocket. I am sorry that this was not clear and for the confusion.

Ready, set, stitch!
